Unraveling the Norms: Rediscovering What God Calls Good Skincare
We live in a world that praises excess. The more complicated the routine, the higher the price tag, the more obscure the ingredients—the more desirable the product seems to be. We’ve been told that beauty lies in the layers: the 10-step systems, the glass bottles on vanity trays, the ever-expanding list of must-haves for our skin to be deemed “glowing,” “worthy,” or “healthy.”
But what if we paused long enough to ask: Is this truly good? Is this what our Creator intended when He called us “fearfully and wonderfully made”?
At Simplistic Cosmetics, we’re not just launching a clean beauty brand. We’re starting a conversation. And more importantly, we’re unlearning.
We’re unraveling the deeply embedded belief that more is better—that worth is found in complexity, that luxury must look and feel a certain way. Because while society sells us the gospel of consumption, Scripture reminds us of something altogether different:
“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—but let it be the hidden person of the heart...” —1 Peter 3:3–4
This isn’t to say that caring for our skin is wrong. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Our bodies are temples—sacred, entrusted vessels—and to care for them is an act of worship. But how we care for them matters. The motivation matters. The ingredients matter.
God is not a complicated God. He does not require the extravagant to call something beautiful. He designed the earth to yield what we need. From olive oil to honey, clay to sea salt, His provision was present in creation long before commercial products arrived on store shelves. That same simplicity still holds power.
Less is not poor.
Less is not lacking.
Less is not unsophisticated.
Less is intentional stewardship. It is a declaration that we trust what God made. It is a return to alignment with His original design—not only for our skin, but for our souls.
When we select ingredients at Simplistic Cosmetics, we are not merely formulating. We are discerning. Each oil, butter, extract, and botanical is chosen not for trendiness, but for truth. We believe clean should mean clean. We believe every jar, every bar, every balm should point back to the garden—pure, simple, and holy.
Because it was in the garden that He first called creation “very good.”
Our blog will be a sacred space. A space to learn, unlearn, and be renewed in our understanding of beauty—not just external, but eternal. We’ll talk about ingredients. We’ll talk about wellness. But we’ll also talk about purpose, presence, and the quiet power of doing less, with more reverence.
So, whether you are simplifying your skincare, shifting your mindset, or seeking to reconnect with God through your daily habits—know this:
You are not behind.
You are not missing out.
You are returning home.
Welcome to the Simplistic Way.
